What’s missing? U R!

Are you considering joining us in ministry, or simply wondering what we have to offer? The sections below will take you to the various categories of ministries we have at Mt. Zion UMC. From ministries centered around our worship on Sunday mornings to the many outreach projects we do in the community and beyond, we have something for everyone.

As Christians, we are called to serve just as Jesus did. One of the best parts about our church community is our commitment as church body to live our lives as followers of Christ. This includes serving at the church, volunteering in the community, and going on mission trips such as the Appalachia Service Project. If you’re looking to get involved at the church, check out the information below and consider filling out a contact form to take next steps.

Outreach Ministries

Mt. Zion United Methodist Church has a full history of missions and outreach – locally, regionally and globally. Locally, we help with the critical needs and food for those less fortunate in the St. Mary’s County area through our Hungry Team, Food Pantry and Take-and-Go Meals. Every other month Mt. Zion sponsors the American Blood Drive collection, and each year we sponsor a house through Christmas in April.

Regionally, we have participated each summer in the Appalachia Service Project, sending a team of youth and adults for almost 10 years to help make homes warmer and drier. Globally, we give generously to UMCOR and the Child Rescue Center, located in Sierra Leone. Mt. Zion’s Missions and Outreach goal is to continue making a significant impact in our communities and the world by working together to change lives one day at a time.

United Methodist Men

United Methodist Men of Mt. Zion are a group of men, partnering with their pastor, to invite and initiate spiritual growth opportunities for all men of the church. Our involvement in the church includes local and global missions, Bible studies, leading and participating on committees, teaching Sunday school classes, youth ministries, scouting, mentoring and assisting in leading worship service.  The focus is not inward, concentrating only on those who attend, but outward to all men.
